BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County Tennis Association had its season ending Fall Classic Wooden Racquet Tennis Tournament on Tuesday evening, Oct. 23. All players played with wooden tennis racquets that dated back to the 1970s and earlier.

The tournament was a round-robin format with each team playing each of the other teams in a mini set. After the round robin, the two teams in first and second place met in the finals and the two teams in third and fourth place played for third place.

In the finals, playing for the coveted Billie Jean King traveling trophy, Team Jimmy Connors made up of John Beck and Tony Escalante defeated Team Chris Evert made up of Debbie Pauls and Tim Dougherty. In the third place match, Team John McEnroe made up of Mike Kelly and Stephanie Alexander defeated Team Bjorn Borg made up of Roger Alexander and Sharon Helms.

During and after play, the players enjoyed a delicious barbecue cooked by BCTA Chef Rory Helms.
