Mt. Hall Elementary Newsletter
Great things are happening at Mt. Hall Elementary! Looking back over the past month, I’m surprised at all we have managed to accomplish. The Mt. Hall Auction took place Saturday, Oct. 20, and it was tremendous success. The auction raised over $12,000. A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for putting it all together. Another thank you to everyone who donated and came out to support our school. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year.
With Halloween landing mid week, our students and staff did a great job channeling their excitement and were able to be Safe, Civil, and Productive even with all the extra sugar. October Citizens of the Month were Haven Christian, Gia Roemer, Sergio Ramirez, Chace Winkelseth, Logan DesMarais, Boston Alexander, Mason Zills, Colton Carpenter, Sadie Frederickson, Maddie Hart, Bentley Fulton, Gwen Marshall, Cody Russell, Noah Worley, Lucas Meyer, Kenny Reeves, Isabell Solum, Emersyn Winkelseth, and Neriah LoPorto. It also helped keeping our kids focused having local farmers Erik Olson, Mike Riebli, and John Riebli come out the day after Halloween to let the students try out some cool farm equipment to go along with Idaho’s Farm to School campaign. Cassie Olson from the Boundary Soil Conservation District provided the school with some coloring books and games to go along with the theme. A great time was had! Some of the kids might be asking for a combine for Christmas this year.
In other exciting events, Mt. Hall Elementary is a voting precinct, and on Tuesday, Nov. 6, our gym was used by the residents of Copeland to vote. It was a great learning opportunity for our students to see our democracy at work. We had a wonderful time celebrating Veterans Day with our guests from every branch of service. The students performed and sang while a slideshow honored their relatives. Finally a “Parade of Heroes” lead us to the flag ceremony to end our festivities. Thank you for coming out to share this significant event and to our veterans – Thank you for your service.
In upcoming events, our student council and Mrs. Hart have been busy this fall. The student council collected candy to send to our troops as part of the Operation Gratitude campaign, and this week our students are going head to head for our annual canned food drive. The class that collects the most items will get to decide the fate of our beloved custodian’s hair and bread. I’m sure Mr. Barnet will be sporting quite the interesting hair do. Stay tuned! With winter break right around the corner, make sure to mark your calendars for Dec. 13. Our students will be performing at our Christmas program. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. If you’d like to stay up-to-date on what’s happening at Mt. Hall, you can also follow us on Facebook @ Mt. Hall School.
The first couple months always go by in a blur. Between holidays, parent conferences, and other beginning of the year excitement, it always amazes me how much learning and growth takes place. This year one of our goals has been to foster a love of reading in our students. Most of the teachers have been blessed by a generous donor and have had book projects fully funded through Donors Choose. As a result, our students are reading more and enjoying it! During the week of Dec. 3-6, our school will be hosting a book fair. Books will be available to purchase before school and after school. A percentage of the sales goes towards purchasing new books for our library.
Our year is off to a great start, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of year has to bring. Thank you all for your support of Mt. Hall Elementary. Until next month, Go Wildcats!
