Salvation Army seeks volunteers to 'ring a bell' this season

| November 15, 2018 12:00 AM

The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign begins Nov. 24 and continues through Dec. 24.

What does it mean to ‘ring the bell’?? Volunteer two hours, three hours, a half a day, or a whole day. Equipment is already at the store … The kettle stand, your bell, apron, and name tag. Sing, dance, dress up, play an instrument, and most of all … HAVE FUN! You are not responsible for counting the donations.

Last year $3,600 was raised and those donations have been hard at work in Bonners Ferry.

In July, this past summer, a total of 11 children from ages 8- 17 years old were able to attend a week-long summer camp at The Salvation Army Camp Gifford in Deer Lake, Wash. The cost was only $25 for families.

Also, this past summer, 60 school backpacks were given to students in need. If you have ever seen a child receive a new backpack, it is the best, with the biggest, brightest smile! Makes your own heart smile!

As always, The Salvation Army is meeting emergency needs with our emergency assistance program. Qualifying families are able to receive assistance with prescriptions, gas, food, lodging, rent, or utilities. Assistance is available at Community Action Partnership, Bonners Ferry.

Please be sure to sign up for a spot to ‘ring the bell’! Your community needs you!
