The Veterans of Foreign Wars organization helped veterans recoup $7.7 billion in earned benefits from the Veterans Association, including $1.2 billion in new claims in 2017.
The value of financial assistance awarded to military families since 2004 is $10.1 million, which assists the families to cover basic needs in times of crisis, with 43 percent of the funds covering basic housing needs.
The VFW has given $3 million in scholarships, monetary awards, and other incentives that they annually distribute to middle and high school students through two major essay competitions.
More than 1,115 veterans have been awarded over $4.9 million in scholarships through the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship” since 2014.
