Giving thanks as a community
BONNERS FERRY — On Nov. 18, community members gathered at the Bonners Ferry Middle School cafeteria for the annual Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the Boundary County Ministerial Association.
“We appreciate all the community volunteers from a numbers of churches, school staff, and all ages of community people to come together to serve our community with a Thanksgiving meal,” said Henry Yoder, president of the ministerial association.
“We might not all agree on everything but when it comes to serving the lovely people of our community we can work marvelously together,” Yoder continued. “It is not about any church or person. It is about a community serving community. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like.”
The cafeteria was filled with friendly chatter, laughter, and compliments on the food from all around.
“It is so much fun to see the neighborhood coming together to share a meal and to fellowship,” said Yoder. “We need each other through this life. If ever an emergency should arise we will have to know how to work together. As President of the Ministerial Association there are challenges, but to see something like this community event is so rewarding.”
During the event, word was spread about how people have met and become good friends since last year’s get together.
“That’s what it’s all about,” said Yoder. “A special thanks goes out to Gary Pflueger, Tammy Schneider, and Alan and Jacob Hinson, for going the extra mile to make this happen.”
With food and fellowship, the community has merely begun the holiday festivities. Keep an eye out on the community calendar for upcoming events.
