Shirley Darlene Estabrooks

Shirley Darlene Estabrooks passed away peacefully on Nov. 13, 2018, at Boundary Community Hospital Extended Care Facility in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Shirley’s son Luke and daughter-in-law Angie were holding her hand as she passed. Thank you to Uncle Mike (Pastor Mike Karnes) who led prayers for Shirley’s departure to be peaceful and for eternal life with the Lord. At Shirley’s request there will be no service.

Shirley was born on April 28, 1938, in Deadwood, S.D., to the late William Faulkner and Marjorie (Hurley) Faulkner. As a young child her family moved to Butte, Mont., where she attended school. Shirley was the third of 12 children.

On July 8, 1956, Shirley married LeRoy Estabrooks in Butte, Mont. Together they raised four children.

Shirley enjoyed being a stay-at-home Mom and was happiest when she was surrounded by her Grandchildren. During her later years of life Shirley treasured every moment she could spend with her great-granddaughter Gracie. Shirley also enjoyed going on walks, working on puzzles, volunteering at the Thrift Store, and being taken on drives by family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, daughter Rickie Estabrooks, parents William and Marjorie Faulkner, sisters Dorothy Craft, Patricia Smith, and Marjorie Reed.

Shirley is survived by her son Luke (Angie) Estabrooks, daughter Luanna (Lloyd) Funderburg, and son Bodie Estabrooks; six grandchildren, Jason (Joanna) Funderburg, Julie (Damon) Ziemann, Jenny Funderburg, David, Michael, Eric Estabrooks; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Thank you to her caregivers while Shirley was still living at her apartment, JoAnna Price, Lindy Nieman, and neighbors who looked in on her. Also thank you to Dr. Botkin, nurses, caregivers and staff at the Extended Care Facility for the love and care they gave to Shirley.
