Lucille V. Haarstick

Lucille V. Haarstick, 69, passed away on September 12, 2018 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at Mt. Hall Church.

Lucille was born Verna Lucille Schroder to Jean Cathryn Knoll and Glenn Charles Schroder on Sept. 15, 1948, in Washington. She was later adopted in 1950 and renamed Lucille V. Alkire. Her family briefly moved to Valdez, Alaska, before returning to Washington.

She graduated from Meadowvale High School in 1966. During her Radiology Technician career, at Providence Hospital, she supported the official team doctors for the Seattle SuperSonics. She additionally assisted in open-heart surgeries among other accomplishments.

Luci married Lee Haarstick on Feb. 8, 1975, in Seattle, Wash. The adventures of parenthood began May 21, 1978, with Thomas Jason Haarstick and a few years later with Cari Lynn Haarstick, born Oct. 16, 1980.

The family relocated to Porthill, Idaho, in April 2000. She served in the Food Bank and on the worship team at Mt. Hall Community Church. Luci was active in several ministries for those less fortunate. She aided her daughter in raising funds to rescue and rehabilitate sex trafficking victims. She helped with Operation Christmas Child and also created handmade cards for Operation Write Home, an organization blessing our military and their families. She loved music and sang/signed whenever possible. She had an avid love for reading.

Luci inherited a genetic disease “Polycystic Kidney” (PKD) requiring dialysis the past four years. She embraced Jesus on Sept. 12, 2018 — three days short of her 70th birthday.

Lucille is survived by Lee Haarstick, her spouse of 43 years.
