Man dies in fatal crash
BONNERS FERRY — An accident in a field off Highway 1 claimed the life of 29-year-old Steven Dean Price on Friday, Sept. 28.
“We got a call from a citizen, a passing motorist, that a vehicle driven by the male subject had ran off the road,” said Boundary County Undersheriff Rich Stevens. “They called it in and reported that he appeared to be having some sort of problems, either intoxication or maybe having some sort of a medical issue.”
Price was driving a 2016 Subaru Outback and, according to Idaho State Police report, he was heading northbound on Highway 1 when he crossed the southbound lane and left the road near milepost 1.9.
“He left the scene of the accident, prior to the deputies making contact, and drove across a private field,” said Stevens. “The deputies lost sight of him.”
According to the ISP report, Price drove through the field and impacted a group of trees, rolling his vehicle. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Life Flight was called, but later canceled as Price was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Patrol, Hall Mountain Fire, North Bench Fire, Boundary Ambulance, Idaho Fish and Game, U.S. Border Patrol, and U.S. Forest Service all responded to the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
