BONNERS FERRY — Roughly 70 Boundary County residents and friends came together for the Pearl Theater’s Pinot, Pilsner, and the Pearl Undead fifth annual Wine Walk membership fundraiser.
The event began at the Georgia Mae Plaza in downtown Bonners Ferry, where groups were made and did their timed rounds between Under the Sun, Mugsy’s Tavern and Grill, Goat Mountain Pizza, Crosstime Saloon, Heart Rock Wines, the Kootenai River Inn, and finishing at the Pearl Theater.
Participants dressed up for the zombie theme and carried their zombie survival kits around with them as they visited the participating businesses for samples of wine and beer as well as hors d’oeuvres.
The event is put on to raise money for the Pearl Theater as well as showcasing local businesses, while allowing attendees to enjoy a night of fun and socialization.
They offered various games throughout the venues, ending with a grand prize gift basket at the end of the event.
Andre and Julie Rosengrant attended the wine walk for a night out on the town.
“It is my birthday and I thought it would be fun,” said Julie Rosengrant. “It was something to do and zombies are cool.”
“It’s a small town and often there is not much to do after work in town, so when something like this comes up, we get out and do it,” said Andre Rosengrant.
The business owners on the venue were all grateful to be a part of the event. Under the Sun served a selection of their house wines, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sparkling rose, as well as their Kona Brewing Co.’s Golden Ale, and Founders Brewing Co.’s Hopped Pilsner.
“We love doing it every year just because it’s good to see people out around town,” said the owner’s daughter, Kendall Cady. “I know people who aren’t participating and see it going on, are intrigued and usually end up doing it next year.”
Goat Mountain Pizza staff hoped for everyone to have a great time while they served a Twisted Merlot, Barefoot Bubbly Champagne, Irish Death from Iron Horse Brewing, and Bayern Pilsner from Bayern Brewing, as well as pizza samples.
Mugsy’s Tavern and Grill served Belcreme De Lys Chardonnay, Sagelands Merlot, and a selection of beer on tap.
“These ladies over here wanted to try our merlot, and this is our house merlot. They didn’t realize how good it was, and they’re going to come back,” said owner Danielle Reasoner. “It helps businesses; it brings people in. People think of it as a bar, like a liquor bar, but don’t realize we have nice wines and beer choices.”
Heart Rock Wines/ Crosstime Saloon served a variety of red and white wine, as well as a beer selection. The Kootenai River Inn served their Copper Ridge White Zinfandel, Domino Cabernet, Laughing Dog, Rocket Dog IPA, and Mickduff’s Irish Redhead Ale to the attendees.
After the groups finished their rounds, they walked over to the Pearl Theater for music and prizes.
Bringing community members together to support a good cause while having fun, the Pearl Theater members and supporters were able to have a wonderful evening of friends and fun.
