Soccer teams fight for state berths
RATHDRUM — On Monday, Oct. 8, the Badger girls played their first 3A district game. The Badgers were the seventh seed in the district bracket and played against second seed Timberlake, losing 6-1, resulting in the team being knocked out.
“The score was 3-0 at halftime, Timberlake managed to score three more times, and we scored our goal right at the end,” said coach Ed Moe. “It was kinda fun.”
Makayla Mierke scored the second-half goal for Bonners Ferry, while goalkeeper Emily Sanchez had seven saves for the Badgers.
With the season over for the girls, the team is looking forward to next year. With only four seniors moving on next spring, there will be a lot of returning players next season, Moe said.
