BONNERS FERRY — On Oct. 2, the Badgers volleyball girls entered the Bonners Ferry High School gym wearing pink uniforms. The ‘Dig Pink’ event was hosted by the Badgers, with visiting team Clark Fork also dressed in pink. The stands on both sides of the gym were filled with pink shirts by visitors, the band, and the cheerleaders.

The Dig Pink event, put on by the Side Out Foundation, brings volleyball teams from all over the country, and even world, together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. The goal is to bring people together and encourage the athletes the importance of giving back to their communities. It is an easy way to get the teams fired up.

The game has no recorded score, but there were many people in the gym showing their support for the team and the cause.

The girls will be playing their first district game at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, and it is a loser-out game. The location is yet to be determined, but the game may be held at BFHS gym. For updated scheduling visit bfbadgers.com
