Letter to the Editor: Missing Cats
CATS: Resident wonders why they’re missing
I know this is no big deal to most, but it has now become personal. We spend a lot of time on our back deck and every day see neighborhood cats walk by the back of our lot. There were four or five regulars, all healthy, no rouges or nasty toms, no fighting. I love that they keep the mice population in check. Now they are all gone, including mine.
I get that it could be an animal attack, but so many cats? It feels it may be more human caused but I will never know. I am angry at the thought that someone may be responsible. I know folks don’t usually report missing cats because, well, it’s a cat. But this, I guess is my way of coping with the loss and warning others. I live on McCall Street but I am thinking some of those cats may have been from over the little ridge from us. Whatever!
Anyway I don’t know if anyone has heard anything, but if it is someone killing pets, maybe having it be more public, perhaps they will stop or be found out. I am just venting and didn’t know what else to do. I think I will call the animal shelter and the sheriff’s office today so that at least someone is aware.
