Nate Williams of Moyie Springs and principal of a Bonners Ferry elementary school was inducted into the Portland (OR) Interscholastic League Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 21.

A 1993 graduate of Franklin High School, Williams earned eight letters in four sports, earning 1st team All-PIL honors twice in Basketball and twice in Baseball. He also lettered in Football and Cross Country and was Franklin’s Male Athlete of the Year as a Senior.

Williams was an All-American Basketball player for Whitworth University of Spokane and led NAIA colleges nationally with a 56.7 percent average from 3-point range as a Senior. He taught PE and coached Basketball for six years at Stanfield, Ore., and has been a principal in Bonners Ferry for 10 years.

The PIL has a 118-year history. Williams was among 38 inductees in the 31st Induction Ceremony, raising HOF membership to 921. About half of the recipients are still living.

The 2018 Induction Class comes from nine present Portland Public Schools — Benson, Cleveland, Franklin, Grant, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Roosevelt and Wilson — and three schools no longer open, Jackson, Marshall and Washington.
