BONNERS FERRY — The Badger boys’ soccer team withstood a physical, determined foe in the Aug. 31 home game against St. Maries.

Within the first hour, the Badgers played a solid game, keeping possession of the ball for the majority of the time. Then the Lumberjacks picked up their game and brought the ball back to their possession.

“They had us on our heals where we were just trying to gain control again,” said coach Wayne Wilkerson. “Once we got through that temporary ‘lapse’ we scored two more goals and made the win decisive.”

There was a large accumulation of spectators cheering the boys on. The Badgers played hard, winning the game 3-0.

“St. Maries was, as usual, a very physical and aggressive team — well-coached and disciplined in their style of play,” said Wilkerson. “Our defense, once again, rose to the challenge and provided another shutout while our midfielders and front line put together several offensive runs and created scoring opportunities that eventually proved too much for them.”

The Badgers host Grangeville at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. For more information on scheduling, visit www.bfbadgers.com, and for scores visit www.maxpreps.com.
