Upcoming: Terry “Duke” Guthrie Memorial Shoot on Sunday, April 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All trap shooters welcome — young and old. Meat Shoot and 50 Bird Handicap. If you don’t shoot, come on out and watch. The moving clay targets turn to dust when they are hit.

The Bonners Ferry High School Trap Team is named “Duke’s Clay Busters” after Terry “Duke” Guthrie. The school team took second place this year in the Big-Sky-I-Net trap shoot for eight weeks, from January to the first of March. They were seventh out of 28 youth teams in the Spokesman Review Shoot.

In individual shooters, the team had two second place Sub. Junior shooters and one third place Junior shooter, for total scores in the eight week tournament. Come out and see who they are and how they shoot this Sunday; very proud of both teams.

Warm weather has really helped the scores the last two weeks. On March 23 we had four 22x25s, and on March 30, Dane Hathaway shot a 23x25 and Dane’s sister Reenie shot 21x25, Wyatt Hathaway 20x25, Colin Fairchild 21x25, Wyatt McDonald 19x25, Kaman Nelson 19x25, Melanie Campbell 18x25. Great shooting.

Bonners Ferry Gun Club: The over the hill gang finally got some new blood to pick on. Mel, Dennis and Dave showed up, back from the warm Arizona country. We did not cut them any slick, haha. Good to have them back to God’s country.

Fourteen shooters in the Annies, great fun and nice weather. The shooters from Montana shot with us; Wayne, Dan Ackerman, Dean Nelson and Dave Crum, thanks for coming guys. I think only a few packs of meat went across the state line this time. Come on out, enjoy the day with us.

Be safe and good shooting
