BONNERS FERRY — The Badger softball team played its first games against visiting Timberlake on April 12, with the first ending in a 32-0 Tiger victory in five innings.

“We were not able to score any runs,” said Coach Chelsea Taggart. “The girls were hitting just hit to players a lot.”

Paisley Schulte pitched the first two innings and half of the second, striking out one and walking seven, while giving up three hits. Sydney Watt came in the middle of the third and pitched the rest of the game giving up 10 hits, 10 walks, and no strikeouts.

The second game in the doubleheader, a 33-4 Timberlake win, started with Kelsey English pitching the first four innings for BFHS.

According to Taggart, English started off with a strikeout and picked up two more as the game went on for a total of three strikeouts. She had nine hits against her and 24 walks.

Sydney Watt came in and finished the fifth inning with two hits against her, no strikeouts and one walk.

Hannah Beazer was hit by a pitch in the first inning, getting the ball rolling. English and Lillian Merritt both hit singles, advancing runners, and Merritt scored on a passed ball.

“We did not score again until the fourth inning with Sydnee Blevins popping a single and later scoring off of a double hit by freshman Rose Owens,” said Taggart.

Their next game will be today, April 18, against Kellogg. Visit bfbadgers.com for updated scheduling information.
