Bonners Ferry High School Team, Dukes Claybusters: The “Dukes” Guthrie Memorial Shoot was a great success again this year. A little chilly with little rain for the day. Had some sun breaks in the afternoon.

Bonners Ferry Club had more than 50 shooters competing in the 5 Across, Annie Oakleys and Buddy Shoots. The 50 Bird Handicap, 25 on each trap, had 5 squads or 24 shooters, it was won by Larry Zeigler from Hauser Lake gun club, with 48X50 from 27 yards back. The super Annie had 39 shooters with Wally Dinning one to two winners.

The Bonners Ferry High School Trap Team, “Dukes Claybusters,” participated in all events but the 50 bird event. They shot their own Annie Oakley, won by Colin Fairchild. Kamen and Colin got to the third pair on the Buddy shooting with the adults.

Melanie Campbell broke all five in one of the 5 Across, winning. Wyatt McDonald stayed in an adult Annie until the last few, before getting shot out. Wyatt & Dane Hathaway did very well in the 5 Across. Melanie and a Newport School Shooter, Lindsay Collison, teamed up for an adult Buddy Shoot and lasted till third team from the end. Very good shooting.

We had nothing but praise on our school team shooters on being safe shooters, very good scores and for being so respectful. I would like to thank all the club members, Dukes Claybusters and parents for helping: loading traps, clean up, help in scoring and the salads for the lunch. Also Super 1 Foods and donations by Elaine Guthrie, Darrell and Patty Kerby, Todd Carver and Mr.& Mrs. Norman Campbell and Terri and Jackie Spence, Thank you all!!!

Dukes Claybusters: We had six shooters today. Melanie Campbell shot, first time out, 24X25, Wyatt Hathaway 24X25, Dane Hathaway 21X25, Colin Fairchild 23X25, Ryan Carelli 18X25, Wyatt McDonald 18X25. GREAT SHOOTING.

Sunday, April 14

Bonners Ferry Gun Club: We had 13 shooters today. Shot five practice rounds and four Annies. I could tell the snow birds from Arizona were back and boy were they hungry, in the Annies anyway. Great having them back, and also Fred H. We also had a Creston, B.C., shooter Brain Z., also Dennis and Widner from Elmira. Great having more shooters and better weather.

I would like to thank Wally Dinning for a gun donation for the School Trap Team, it’s very much appreciated.

Shoot safe and keep your powder dry.
