William (Bill) Petersen

William (Bill) Petersen, 57, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2019.

Bill was born in Hollister, Calif., on Aug. 25, 1961, to Clarence (Duke) and Ethel (Kincaid) Petersen. The family moved to Bonners Ferry in the 1970s where Bill grew up and attended Bonners Ferry High.

Bill competed in high school rodeos, riding bulls and broncs, and won the all-around cowboy at Kootenai River Days Junior Rodeo. After high school, Bill worked on large cattle ranches and trained horses throughout Nevada and California, and later went on to become a journeyman plumber.

He was an avid outdoorsman, craftsman and horseman. In his free time, Bill could always be found hunting, fishing or trapping or out in his shop tying flies for fly fishing and making duck and turkey calls, along with doing his leatherwork

A celebration of life will be held for friends and family on Saturday, April 27.

He is survived by his fiancée Teresa Battle, his mother Ethel Petersen, his son Jacob Petersen, his daughter Kimberly Petersen, his granddaughter Lexi Keirns, step-daughter Marjorie Garbini, brother Bob Petersen (Joannie), and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Duke Petersen and brother Jim Petersen.
