Sydney Aaron Stevens
Sydney Aaron Stevens
Sydney Aaron Stevens was born June 4, 1935, and died April 20, 2019. His parents were Aaron and Edna Stevens. He was the only child.
He married Alice Louise (Lou) Spencer in January 1956 and had seven children: Sydney, Clinton (Bev), Loree (Tho’i) Do, Jolena (Robert) Moe, Vernon (Frieda), David (Marla), Charlotte (Kevin) Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and an adopted daughter, Jennifer (Randal) Smith.
After two years of auto mechanic courses at North Idaho Junior College he worked for Aubrey Strong Texaco in Post Falls, but worked various jobs throughout his life: Jacklin Seed Co., Idaho Veneer, driving concrete trucks and logging. His favorite was scraping, more commonly known as recycling. He and his entire family were among the original recyclers before recycling was cool. He spent his entire life in North Idaho.
Syd, as he was affectionately called, spent the last seven years at the BCH nursing home, where he called himself an inmate and affectionately called the nurse’s station the guard shack. That is an example of his unique, bantering sense of humor. He was known for walking to town with his walker and straw hat. He brightened up the atmosphere and everyone came to love him. The family greatly appreciates the excellent care the staff gave him.
Syd and Lou were introduced to Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1956 and they looked forward to a resurrection where they will live in a paradise earth that Jehovah promised as was His original purpose. Isaiah 65:21-23, Psalm 37:10, 11 and 29.
A Memorial service has been planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Memorial Hall at the Fairgrounds in downtown Bonners Ferry. A reception follows.
