Free sports physicals offered Aug. 6 at BCH

Do you have students in grades 7, 9, or 11 who plan to participate in sports, including cheerleading, in the upcoming school year? Then according to the Idaho High School Activities Association, these students will need to have a physical before the first practice starts. This also applies to students new to the sports program who did not have a physical last year, even if in grades 8, 10 and 12.

Boundary Community Hospital offers a Sports Physical Clinic annually as a free service for Boundary County student athletes. This year the event will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Outpatient Services at the Hospital. Park and enter at Outpatient Services off Comanche Street and check in at the Coaches’ table. A parent must be present for the clinic.

Students must complete a series of screenings during the clinic including height, weight, vision, vital signs, urine test, and an evaluation for neuromusculoskeletal function including range of motion, strength, balance and functional mobility. A physical exam and review of the screening results by a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner follows. The completed forms are then submitted to the Coaches from Boundary County School District for inclusion in school records.

So make plans now to take part in the Free Sports Physical Clinic provided by Boundary Community Hospital and Boundary Community Clinics, right here in Bonners Ferry.
