Bonners Ferry High School Trap Team, “Dukes Claybusters”: Sub Jr. Team won first place at the 88th P.I.T.A. Grand Pacific Tournament. Sub Jr. Team 16 Yard Event on Friday on Total 500 targets. Shooting 100 targets each. Kamen Nelson had a high score of 97X100 (24-25-25-23). He not only broke his first 25, but 50 straight. Seth Rice had 24-25-22-25 = 96X100. Colin Fairchild had his first 25 with a total score of 92X100. Ryan Carelli broke 86X100 and Dillon McLeish had 66X100.
Junior Division: We were short two members to make a full team of five. I know if we would have had them they would have came in second or third place. The members score where Melanie Campbell broke 85X100, Wade Rice had 23-23-25-23=94X100, Wyatt Hathaway 24-22-24-25=95X100. All in all we had five first 25X25s and one 50X50. The Sub Jr. Team members were awarded a P.I.T.A. medal each. The Claybusters all jumped in and helped serve the meals for supper, before the awards ceremony. All were starved by the time they got to eat.
All of Boundary County, I hope, are as proud of these dedicated young shooters, as I am. I was very humbled as I also shot and was out shot by a few of my students. Loved it.
I would like to thank Ron and Kristie Campbell for all they do helping out. By the way, Ron broke a 98X100 and 96X100, great shooting for shooting in his first registered shoot. There were over 300 shooters there competing, and I was wrong, there was members from ten states shooting at this tournament.
We need to thank Sandi Chubb for her donations of her father, Way Davis and her brother Michel Davis’ trophies for the School Teams Competition Shoots. Mike Davis was Idaho’s State Jr. 16 yard Champion 1962-1963 and 1964. Also Rosann Smith for her donation gift card to Far North Outfitters. I also thank the Parents of the Claybusters for all their support and Bonners Ferry High School for allowing this trap shooting club to be part of the School System.

Bonners Ferry High School Trap Team, “Dukes Claybusters”: We had seven shooters today. High score was Wade Rice 24X25 with his new Browning BT-99, as he outgrew his old trap gun. Colin Fairchild 22X25, Kamen Nelson 20X25, Wyatt McDonald 22X25, Melanie Campbell 21X25, Wyatt Hathaway 22X25, and Dillon Mcleish 17X25, shooting a loaner 12 gauge, very good first time. I forgot the Claybusters sold enough raffle tickets to pay for their shells at the P.I.T.A. tournament.
Sunday, July 28
Bonners Ferry Gun Club: A very good day, we had 16 shooters. Today was practice rounds and our usual four Annie Oakleys. What fun, the Annies lasting longer than usual as everyone seemed to be shooting better. Paying three places and yes some Idaho meat went across the state line again. Great shooting everyone. All clay target shooters welcome. Open Wednesday 10 a.m., Saturday 10 a.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. Thank you members and Boundary County residents for all your support.
