Robert E. Rhoads, Sr.

Robert E. Rhoads, Sr., 87, of Macungie, Pa., died July 20, 2019, at Legend Senior Living. For 65 years he was the husband of the late Lorraine T. (Miller) Rhoads. Born in Boyertown, Pa., he was the son of the late Walter and Clara (Mauler) Rhoads.

He worked for Air Products and Chemicals for more than 40 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Emmaus, Pa. He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Donna Diehl of Emmaus, Pa.; sons, Robert E. Rhoads, Jr. (Carol) of Allentown, Pa., Gary R. Rhoads (Belynda) of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Brian M. Rhoads of Macungie, Pa., Gregory J. Rhoads of Macungie, Pa., and Michael A. Rhoads (Tammy) of Emmaus, Pa.; sister, Jackie Fulmer of Gilbertsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son, Glenn T. Rhoads; brothers, Woodrow and Walter Rhoads, Jr.; and sister, Pauline Moser.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, July 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 415 S. Sixth St., Emmaus, Pa. Interment with military honors followed in Calvary Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus, Pa., is handling arrangements.
