James C. Gravelle

James C. Gravelle of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, comforted by his family, passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St Ann’s Catholic Church.

He was 82 years old. Born Sept. 6, 1936, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Jim married his beautiful bride, Kaye Welch of Bonners Ferry, on Sept. 16, 1961, and was married for 58 wonderful years. Together they had eight children and 20 grandchildren.

Jim was a proud Navy veteran who served on submarines from 1955-1977, when he retired and moved to Bonners Ferry to raise his children. He then began his career with Elk Mountain Farms, where he worked until retiring in 2002 and settled into his home in Moyie Springs.

He was preceded in death by his father Clarence A. and mother Gladys F. Gravelle, and sisters Leona Johnson and Lois Gravelle.

Jim was survived by his wife Kaye; his eight children: Micheal and Kristi Gravelle, Kellie and Gilbert Covarrubias, Shannon and Joseph Blackstock, Steven and Deanna Gravelle, Patrick and Jeannie Gravelle, Jeffrey Gravelle, Laurelle and Kelly Boian, and Kristefer and Ariana Gravelle, his 20 grandchildren and his sister Karen and Val Griggs.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved woodworking and projects, but most of all he loved his wife and his children and even more his endeared grandchildren. Jim was a man who loved a good card game, but more importantly he loved a good laugh. He will be missed by all that he knew and cherished by all who knew him.
