On short putts, practice makes perfect
BONNERS FERRY — If you’re having difficulties making those all-important short putts, then this drill is for you! Grab a dozen balls and head to the practice green. Place them in a pattern pictured above starting with the closest balls around three feet from the hole, the next balls six feet from the hole, and the last balls about nine feet from the hole.
Start out by putting the closest balls first, then work your way around out to the furthest balls from the hole. Begin by putting to a hole that is on relatively flat ground then head over to a hole on a slope and do the same thing.
The goal is to make all 12 balls in a row. It’s a difficult task, but with some practice it can be done. Doing this drill a few times a week will definitely improve your putting, especially on the short ones.
