BUDGET: Give it a closer look

“Funny Money” has become “Show Me the Money.” The yearly budget synopsis for the City of Moyie Springs has been posted. Seems there is no money to be spent in many categories. But “General City Admin. Expenses” is spending a whopping $148,667.62. Paper clips, paper, pens, ink, etc., cost a lot apparently. Probably because of the tariffs.

In some categories, building site permits, ($10 each), hall rental (the little room next to the office) show whopping increases (100%+) in revenue. That’s a lot of building and hall rentals. Must be all the new folks pouring in and dancin’ in the hall.

The Cash on Hand for the various departments ... now there’s a roller coaster graph for you. Like last week’s stock market. The FY19-20 budget paperwork shows $10,138.36 set aside for this year’s financial audit. The one that hasn’t been done since 2015. But rest assured, this check is in the mail?

It’s not all doom and gloom. The new city park, which will draw “da’ kids” from all over Boundary County according to Dennis Weed, is underway and will be fenced for safety.
