BONNERS FERRY — The lady Badger soccer team has seen a change in leadership this season in the form of Coach Emily Winebark.

“I wanted to coach the girls’ team this year because soccer has been a part of my life since I was a kid and I know the impact athletics can have,” said Winebark.

She played soccer at the high school and collegiate levels, and has even moved on to join adult leagues in the areas she has lived.

“Soccer played a huge part in helping me to grow both as an athlete and as a young adult,” said Winebark. “I love that the lessons you learn in athletics are so applicable to character building, relationships, and life.”

After accepting a job as a guidance counselor at Bonners Ferry High School last year, Winebark is excited to expand the relationships that she has established with the students through coaching.

“I see this season being a season of growth for our girls’ team,” said Winebark. “I think we have a lot of talented athletes who just need to build confidence.”

Winebark plans to focus on building that confidence as a team, while working on conditioning and being more aggressive in games.

“I look forward to being a part of the work the girls are going to do,” said Winebark.
