Robert C. Causton
Robert C. Causton, known to friends as “Buckhorn Bob,” passed away on July 15, 2019, at the age of 96 years young. Funeral service and interment to be held in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at 1 p.m. Sept. 7, 2019, in the Pavilion at Grand View Cemetery.
A native of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Bob took an early interest in electronics. He built his first (pretend) radio at the tender age of seven, using parts he had collected from various people and places. Bob also loved to tend to his mining claims, spending countless hours soil sampling, clearing the roads, and fending off the bears from entering his camp kitchen for his food supplies.
Bob joined the Navy in December 1942. After Naval training and nine months of Electronics Technician School, Bob went aboard a new submarine repair ship. There he traveled to many ports to service the communications equipment for submarines coming off patrol. Bob was discharged from the Navy in March 1946, and enrolled in Idaho State University to further his study in electronics. Bob went on to work for Philco Corp., and the Air Force as an electronic engineer, retiring in 1994.
Bob was a kind and generous man, loved by many friends and family. He is survived by his nephew, Ray Causton and his wife, Kathy; niece, Marcia Becker and her husband, Richard; great nieces Marcella Causton Harville; Meredith Causton; Karyn Causton; great-great nephews Tobias and Dovovan; great-great niece Keegan; cousin Denice Hogan, and her husband, Kevin, and daughter, Madison; also survived by extended family and many, many friends, all of whom will miss Bob very much. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa, and father, George; Brothers Ivan, and Clifford.
