High school, junior high winners named for VFW youth scholarship competitions

The winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 2019-20 Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen youth scholarship competitions were announced on Monday, Dec. 2, by Tom Chaney. The theme this year was “What Makes America Great.”

The winners of the Voice of Democracy, open to grades 9-12, were Christa Holley in first place, Ember Rose Allred in second, and Evelynn Chaney in third.

The winners of the Patriot’s Pen, open to grades 6-8, were Asha Abubakari in first place, Ana Chase in second, and Sydney Beckle in third.
