Officials celebrate completion of road improvement project

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the completion of the Tobe Way and Plato Drive Improvements Project in Boundary County at the intersection of Plato Drive and Tobe Way – located off of U.S. 95 in the center of the completed project area on Monday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m.
Boundary County Road and Bridge Department hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The road improvement project upgraded approximately 0.7 miles of gravel surfaces of Tobe Way and Plato Drive to all-season paved surfaced roads. The newly surfaced roads will provide a significant economic opportunity for current businesses to be serviced, and a wide range of benefits for new commercial expansion. The work also improves ride quality, reduces maintenance costs and road dust, adds designated crosswalks and creates a separated pathway for pedestrians and cyclists.
The improvements were funded through a $660,000 Local Strategic Investment Program grant authorized by the Idaho Legislature and administered through the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), which identifies eligible projects to address safety and mobility.
The project was sponsored by Boundary County, overseen by Boundary County Road & Bridge, and construction work was carried out by Wink, Inc., of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Engineering and Construction Management was provided by HMH Engineering, Inc., of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
