Top spellers headed to Regional Spelling Bee
For the region’s top young spellers, it’s study time.
School district-level spelling bee winners from throughout the region will be getting ready to compete in the 16th annual North Idaho Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 16, at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene.
The winner of the regional bee will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to represent North Idaho in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, with all expenses paid, for the winner and a guardian, by the Coeur d’Alene Press.
The 46 students qualified to compete in this year’s regional bee at NIC represent nine school districts from throughout North Idaho, including home school associations and private schools.
The spellers will compete against each other, regardless of grade level, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Edminster Student Union Building on NIC’s main campus.
Registration for participants will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the Coeur d’Alene Press and hosted by NIC.
