The flames ate away at the structure as fire-fighters fought to keep the flames controlled. The large structure caught fire while the owners were out of town.

BONNERS FERRY — A large shop fire at a residence erupted around noon on Monday, Feb. 18, on Bench Road.

When the first North Bench Fire unit arrived on scene, there was already heavy fire and smoke.

South Boundary fire also responded on auto aid, bringing an engine and a water tender. Paradise Valley Fire brought an engine and a tender, and Hall Mountain Fire responded with a tender. Also responding to the scene were Boundary Ambulance and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office.

In total, more than 20 personnel responded to the fire, including three fire chiefs. The Bread Basket provided food for the firefighters as they worked hard to put out the structure fire.

The shop contained vehicles, and the contents as well as the structure were a complete loss. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
