With the appropriations for roads from the legislature, Boundary County would receive about $32,000. This sum will be used in the completion of the Panhandle Highway and the County will have to put up an equal amount.

Joe Neumeyer, who was discharged from Camp Lee, Va., has returned to his home at Porthill. He showed a picture taken at Camp Lee called the “Living Uncle Sam”. The picture fully represents Uncle Sam and all the shading effects were produced by 19,000 men and officers who were grouped after three hours work.

Henry Hoagland and 3 grandsons killed a full grown bear near Moravia with a 20 gauge shotgun. The bear had holed up for the winter and Mr. Hoagland had located his lair.

The B.F. Public Library will be moved to new quarters in the offices of Bonner Water and Light Co., who are donating the space.

George Danquist of Round Prairie School District #5 was the only pupil in the eighth grade to complete his work and receive a certificate for admission to high school.

Jack Sage, B.F.H.S. senior, was honored at a dinner after returning from a one week trip to Washington, D.C. Sage was selected as one of two Idaho winners in the Senate Youth Program. Sage was honored to shake hands with President Nixon and visit Arlington Cemetery.

The B.F. Boat Club met to discuss the club’s lease at Smokey Acres Campground. Election of officers was held with Aubrey Bennett, Commodore; George Cassidy, Vice- Commodore; Anna May Spalding , Secretary-Treasurer. Chosen to serve as the Boat Club Queen was Linda Kelson.

Boundary County voters will decide March 30 whether to approve a two year, $985,000 supplemental maintenance and operation levy for the Boundary County School District. School officials say it must pass to maintain the level of education necessary for students to meet current educational demands.

Judge Debra Heise ruled on Feb. 18 there was not enough probable cause to sustain the charge against 64 year old Robert Elbert Hayden. Hayden was charged last week with threatening a Ponderay Wal-Mart employee who testified in a Boundary County arson case. Hayden is awaiting trial on counts of first-degree arson and criminal conspiracy.
