Letter to the Editor: Moyie Springs Sewer Mega-Plex
SEWER: Learn details of Moyie Springs mega-plex
The State/DEQ is telling Moyie Springs to repair the sewer system. Again.
A multitude of studies with options have been done over the last 10+ years. The city council chose not to pursue any of the solutions.
Per the City Clerk, there are only 78 hookups. Several of those are “allotted” (hooked up) to the mill.
I believe there is no commercial hookup/use rate. Businesses with 50 employees pay the same rate as a household.
A few previously served connections have been allowed to disconnect. Their past due accounts forgiven.
The current proposal, by the state and others, is for the citizens of Moyie Springs to approve a $3 million bond. A bond is a loan. It has to be paid back. It is not a grant or “free” money. All residents have the right to vote on the bond/loan/debt. Only those ON the system pay the bond/loan/debt.
I find it curious that the current site of the treatment plant is adequate for the proposed $3 million+ mega-plex but not for fixing and upgrading the current system?
Ask for the Facility Summary Study, October, 2016, and the Compliance Agreement Schedule from Idaho DEQ, July, 2016.
