The 2018 Badger Alumni Tournament was played on Saturday, Dec. 29, with eight teams showing up for a great day of basketball for both players and spectators.

The tournament included a 3-point shooting competition, a dunk contest, and shooting games for all ages. Several items were also up for grabs in a silent auction, including some Gonzaga men’s basketball tickets that were donated by Pluid and Sons Logging.

The BFHS boys basketball team hosted the event as a fundraiser for their program. They received tons of support from parents, local businesses, fans, and past players who really enjoyed getting to play some basketball and visit with old friends and teammates.

Several local business and individuals went out of their way to donate items to the event, including Riverside Auto, Pizza Factory, Kootenai River Inn, Super 1, Carquest, Safeway, Far North, Bonners Ferry Vet Clinic, and the Badger Boosters.

I want to send out a special thanks to Angela Hittle who really got the whole idea going. She was very instrumental in all of the planning and the behind-the-scenes arrangements for this great fundraising event.

I also want to thank all of our volunteers who refereed games, ran concessions, cooked, and helped make this tournament run smoothly. Hopefully this can turn into an annual event for the community ... many of the players were already talking about getting in better shape for next year!
