High School Trap Shooting Team, ‘Dukes Claybusters’

It was the first week of the Spokesman-Review and Big Ski-I net shoot. Junior shooters were; Melanie Campbell 13X25 and 18X25 = 31, Wyatt Hathaway 18X25 and 18X25 = 36, and Dane Hathaway 18X25 and 18X25 = 34. Sub. Junior shooters Kamen Nelson 22X25 and 12X25 = 34, Colin Fairchild 20X25 and 17X25 = 37, Ryan Carelli 19X25 and 17X25 = 37, Cassidy Underhill 14X25 and 13X25 = 27, Wyatt McDonald 11X25 and 15X25 = 26 and Cade Jelinek 12X25 and 12X25 = 25.

Every shooter shoots at 25 targets on 16 yards, then add two yards to their scores; examples 20+2 yards = 22 yards, for their second 25 rounds, then add both scores for totals. Good weather, 35 degrees with light wind and sun breaks, very good weather for this time year. Just a note, Melanie beat her dad Ron in handicap scoring — great shooting Melanie. Kamen’s new 12 gauge c-z should be here this week, anxious to watch him shoot some very good scores with it.

When we are short a squad shooter the parents have been great at filling in to make a full squad. This makes it go smoother. I appreciate this and they always pay their way and more.

Bonners Ferry Gun Club

Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019: We had 15 shooters, great turnout, with 35 degrees, sun breaks and wind. Targets jumping around a little, a good trap shooter has all kinds of excuses for missing a target.

Charley Runnion won “A” class with 23X25 and 21X25 = 44, Ron Campbell won “B” class with 22X25 and 16X25 = 38, and Dean Nelson won “C” class with 20X25 and 16X25 = 36. Ken Nystrom 24X25, Wally Dinning 24X25, Paul Carelli 23X25 and Charley Runnion 23X25 for a 94X100, for the Spokesman-Review Shoot. The Spokesman’s is for the four highest 16 yard scores, for each club each week. Individual score at the end of eight weeks. Scores are in the paper on Sunday Sports page and on the internet. Both the Spokesman Review and Annie Oakley’s were great fun.

Shoot safe and straight. Keep your powder dry.
