BONNERS FERRY — To say Saturday night’s Bonners Ferry boys basketball game was big might be an understatement.

The 64-43 Badger home win was the first time that Bonners Ferry has beaten Kellogg since Jan. 25, 2014. It is also the first time Kellogg has lost a league game in the past five seasons, which is extremely impressive for their basketball program.

“I am very proud and excited for our players, who played a great game with lots of hustle, teamwork and execution,” BFHS coach Andy Rice said. “We need to keep building off of how we have played during our last few home games.

“Chris Durette had a really good overall game, he was all over the stat sheet for us. He led us with 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and had two assists. He also had two turnovers early in the game and then just played some smart basketball after that.

“Seth Bateman and Dylan Hittle once again provided some strong leadership for us and kept us on the right path,” Rice added. “It was great to see how excited these guys were with how they played and realizing that we can play like this more often if we play smart team basketball.”

The Badgers, who are 2-0 in Intermountain League play, host Timberlake on Saturday.
