Mixes

In the upcoming weeks I am going to share with you several recipes for mixes that you would normally buy at the supermarket in little packages to make your favorite dishes. This week it is for Chili Powder & Taco Seasoning.

You can mix these ingredients and save them in jars for further use. You can double these recipes and keep in a jar until needed. I like mine on the spicy side so you might want to cut the cayenne pepper to suit your taste buds.

Homemade Chili Powder:

1 Tbsp paprika

2 Tbsp ground cumin

1 Tbsp cayenne pepper

1 Tbsp oregano

2 Tbsp garlic powder

2 Tbsp onion powder

Homemade Taco Seasoning:

1/2 cup chili powder

1/4 cup onion powder

1/8 cup ground cumin

1 Tbsp garlic powder

1 Tbsp paprika

1 Tbsp sea salt

1 tsp oregano

dash of cayenne

Place in a jar and shake until mixed well. Add about 2-3 tablespoon of this mix plus one half to three quarters cup of water to each pound of cooked ground meat. Simmer over medium heat stirring frequently until there is very little liquid left. Serve with your favorite taco topping.
