Their early morning practices seemed to pay off as the crowd cheered on their performance at a recent BFHS basketball game.

BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers dance team has been on routine with keeping the crowd entertained during halftime at the sporting events throughout the school year.

During the halftime show at the home basketball games for the Badger ladies and gentlemen on Jan. 12, the dance team performed a military based routine.

“It is an interesting routine because they need to keep serious intense faces through out,” said Coach Lisa Dirks. “The movements must be very sharp and synchronized. It is their best routine so far.”

Over the past week during practice, the girls have been working on completing and perfecting their kick routine as well as other choreographed moves.

“I am most proud of the current nine girls on the team because they are dedicated to the 5:45 a.m. practices and have hung in there now for seven months, 75 percent of our long, long season,” said Dirks. “We truly are like a big family going through successes, flops, sickness and exploring new dancing territory.”

With the upcoming competition in Lakeland on Jan. 26, followed closely by a competition in Post Falls, the girls have their work cut out for them.

“It will be a great learning experience, readying us for districts and hopefully state,” said Dirks. “We love dancing for our Badger basketball and wrestling crowds.”

As the dance team continues to keep their steps on point, they entertain the crowds as they display their hard work and talent throughout the season as well as displaying their support for the Badger teams.
