BFHS basketball swept by Timberlake
BONNERS FERRY — On Jan. 19, the Badgers hosted Timberlake in a matchup of unbeaten Intermountain League teams. Bonners Ferry fell victim to the Tigers’ hot-shooting, losing 58-43.
“This was a tough game for us,” said coach Andy Rice. “We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game. They shot the ball very well, 23-of-34 on 2’s and 3-of-8 on 3’s. We struggled at times and they took advantage of our mistakes.”
Timberlake scored 20 points directly off Badger turnovers.
“I thought at times we looked good but did not play a complete game, which is something we have been trying to focus a lot on. We made a good run in the third quarter and got within one but we couldn’t take advantage of it.,” said Rice.
With Timberlake controlling the tempo of the game, the boys had to work to keep up.
“I kept thinking that a couple of our shots were going to fall and we would build some momentum and get going but it didn’t happen,” said Rice. “Once again, I’m impressed and thankful with our support from the community.”
The Badgers have one more home game this Friday, senior night, against Stillwater Christian. The team will finish the season with four games on the road.
“It’s going to be tough but hopefully it prepares us for districts,” said Rice.
