Girls keep it close, but fall to Timberlake
BONNERS FERRY — The Timberlake Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the coaches’ and media polls in 3A, jumped out to a 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter of their Jan. 19 visit to Bonners Ferry.
The Lady Badgers, ranked fourth in both polls, outscored the Tigers 13-9 in the second quarter to trail 27-22 at halftime. The Badgers kept it close, trailing 43-39 with 5:43 left in the fourth, but the Tigers held on to win 57-47.
Baylee Blackmore led the Badgers with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
“Baylee has been pretty consistent offensively, but tonight she did a great job stepping up defensively when Jerzie went out,” BFHS coach Travis Hinthorn said.
The Lady Badgers host Stillwater Christian Friday for their final home game of the regular season. The Badgers, who are 13-5 overall and 3-2 in Intermountain League play, travel to Kellogg next Tuesday in their final game before the district tournament.
