Bonners Ferry High School Team, Dukes Claybusters: Third week of the Telethon

Boy, what a bunch of good scores today! I know the parents are as proud as I am this week. I was a little doubtful as three or four of the team shot rifle first at KVSP, then came over here to shoot for score. Kamen Nelson was one of them and he broke a 24X25 the best 16 yard score of all 23 shooters, he also had a 16 from 26 yards back for a total of 40X50.

Melanie Campbell had 14X25 and 20X25 for a 34X50, and the best handicap score of all the school team. Cassidy Underhill broke 13X25 and 14X25 for 27X50, her best scores yet with a newer 1100 auto 12 gauge. Colin Fairchild 22X25 and 17X25 for 39X50. Wyatt Hathaway 23X25 and 18X25 for a high combined score of 41X50. Dean Hathaway 22X25 and 15X25 for 37X50, Ryan Carelli 20X25 and 14X25 for 34, Wyatt McDonald shot his best 16 yard score yet with 19X25 and 14X25 for 33X50, and Cade Jelinek 10X25 and 10X25 for 20X50.

I am sure the team will move up in this week’s team standings. The Claybusters are now in sixth place in the Camas, and second place in the Big Sky I-Net last week. Have not gotten the Spokesman’s results. Way to go team!!!!

Bonners Ferry Gun Club: We had 14 shooters today with Charley Runnion winning “A” Class (second time) 23 and 20 for 43X50 and Bill Bustilles with 22 and 17 for 39 winning “B” Class. I hope Charley doesn’t keep taking advantage of us older shooters to many more times. Ha-ha. The club members were treated with a big pot of stew and fresh corn bread by Karen Daniels today. A wonderful and great tasting meal. Thank you very much Karen.

We also had three shooters from Orofino, Idaho. They were up skiing at Schweitzer and had seen that our club belonged to the Camas Prairie Association, so they shot for scores at our club so they wouldn’t miss a week for scores. Mike and Amy Powers and son Alex, a junior shooter. Alex shot a 20X25 first time shooting at our club. Newcomers always welcome. We shot four Annie Oakleys, what fun. It was good having Mike Jelinek out shooting again, Mike and Lonny won the first Annie, glad to keep it in the family. Hee, hee. Shoot safe and keep your powder dry.

Thanks,

— Coach Lonny Jelinek
