Kathleen (Kathy) Ann English

Kathleen (Kathy) Ann English, age 77, of Moyie Springs, Idaho, passed on Nov. 17, 2018, at Boundary Community Hospital, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Kathy was born Kathleen Ann Manus in Nampa, Idaho, on July 31, 1941. She lived in Melba, Idaho, until she was seven, at which time the family moved to Boundary County, Idaho. The family initially lived in the Perkins Lake and Curly Creek areas, where she attended Curley Creek School for the third and fourth grades. The family then moved to Bonners Ferry, and later to Moyie Springs. She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1959.

Kathy attended beautician school in Spokane, Wash. While attending school, she met Thomas Joseph Bertling and they later married. Tom was in the Air Force and stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash. Tom remained in the Air Force for several more years, including one tour in Thailand. His final duty station was McChord Air Force Base, after which they moved back to Boundary County, Idaho.

Kathy was married to Tom until his passing in 1996. Kathy was a homemaker and mother and studied muscle massage and therapy, later opening and operating Muscle Therapy Center in Bonners Ferry and then moving the business to Moyie Springs.

Kathy married Kenneth (Ken) English in 2001 and continued operating her muscle therapy business until her health no longer permitted it. She and Ken lived in Moyie Springs until her death.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Kenneth (Ken) English; sons James Bertling, Robert Bertling (Michelle). Tim Bertling (Wendy); daughter Sharman Bertling Hollenbeck (Geoff), sister Charyl Mesenbrink, and brothers Lynn and Michael Manus. She has eight wonderful grandchildren and seven beautiful great-grandchildren.

As per her wishes, the family is planning a Celebration of Life for her on July 27, 2019. Location to be announced. She was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
