Restorium Ramblings

Just wanted to share what has been going on at the Restorium, month by month, through the fall.

In October: Fall is so beautiful here at the Restorium! The yard surrounding the gazebo is resplendent with color, and the weather is just right for a stroll around the grounds. The fun of decorations for Halloween bring excitement! The children coming for trick or treat is welcoming for us. They look so cute in their costumes. We have great fun at our annual carnival. We play games and win special prizes that our staff choose so carefully to suit each resident. No haphazard prizes so each resident is always pleased. This is just one of the special touches our great staff provide. It is so important to us at this stage of life to be treated as personal individuals.

As November came, winter did not delay as the weather got very cold really quickly, just getting us thinking toward Thanksgiving, a time of lots of good memories of friends and family and knowing that many of them will be visiting us for a special Thanksgiving Feast. November was a strange month in that there were no November birthdays among us, as we always have a combined birthday party each month. Shoot! No ice cream and cake! But just as expected, Thanksgiving dinner was festive and merry with many friends and relatives enjoying it with us.

December was the best month! Our home is decorated everywhere so that the Christmas spirit is rung in right after Thanksgiving. So many community organizations visit the Restorium to sing, do crafts, or bring gifts all through the month that it is amazing. We as residents want to express our sincerely and deeply felt thanks to each and every person in each and every organization, group or congregation who gave us the gifts of their time and talents. Then, of course, our Christmas dinner celebration was such a joy and such a success this year! There wasn’t even room for a Christmas mouse to squeak in because of the huge host of visitors.

All in all, I’ll have to report that the last three months of 2018 brought much joy, pleasure and warm and fuzzy feelings here at the Restorium. All of us residents want to express our appreciation for the warmth, the caring and the extra touches given to make our holiday season so lovely.
