Keep the right elbow from flying out

Last week’s golf tip was using a golf glove or small towel tucked under the left (also known as the “target” side for a right handed golfer) armpit to promote a synchronized backswing between the left arm and upper body.
This week’s tip is to tuck a golf glove or small towel under the right (also known as the “trail” side for a right handed golfer) armpit. The object is to not let the glove fall out during the swing, especially during the backswing. This helps eliminate the flying right elbow that destroys so many swings. Those with a background of playing baseball should find this drill very helpful.
This drill also promotes an inside out club head path into the ball which is necessary to hit a draw. Next time you head out to the golf course or driving range, try this drill to make sure your arm position is in the correct position at the top of your backswing.
