Regarding the July 4 article, “NEW CHURCH BRINGS CONTROVERSY TO AREA,” I must say that I am extremely disappointed in the reporting (if you can call it that) of Tanna Yeoumans and the Bonners Ferry Herald.

This article seems to base its primary position on the comments of a Mr. Craig Kelson who boldly states what Pastor Campbell “feels” and “believes,” while Mr. Kelson has never attended a service at Lordship Church, or even met Pastor Campbell.

Perhaps Mr. Kelson’s dislike for Lordship Church is based on their apparent support of their God-given, natural right to keep and bear arms, as protected and codified in our state and federal constitutions. Perhaps the reason that there is a low amount of violent crime in this area is because we are more apt to exercise these basic rights around here than others are in areas like Chicago and New York.

Mr. Kelson then states that “Lordship Church is missing one of the Bible’s most important messages: Don’t judge others.” What the Bible actually says on that topic is “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” (Matt 7:1-3).

To “judge” means to form an opinion or conclusion about someone or something. It seems to me that Mr. Kelson and the Bonners Ferry Herald are pretty long on opinions and short on facts.
