100 Years Ago

As many of the B.F. people as could spare the time or find a means of conveyance went to Sandpoint last Friday to attend the big celebration in honor of the returned soldiers and sailors. All report that it was the best ever held in the north part of the state.

Jack Poston had his new Harroun auto damaged when he was hit by a truck owned by a contractor by the name of Burns. Mr. Poston had a party of friends in the car who all said that he had given the truck more than its share of the road. Burns agreed to make good on the damaged fender, axle, and tire.

A. Klockmann, of Porthill, has bought a big new ditcher and has plans to drain and dike a large area of overflowed lands which he owns. His plans are being watched with a great deal of interest by many people in the Kootenai Valley District.

The Crystal Laundry was sold by Frank Inoue to Fred Tsudaka and H. Takaya. The new proprietors plan a number of improvements and may purchase the building which is owned by M.W.A. Lodge of this city.

50 Years Ago

Bob Allured has won the 1969 Chevy Nova at the Sandpoint Lions Club Fourth of July celebration.

Dawn Remington, a senior at BFHS, will be a delegate to the national meeting of the Future Homemakers of America at the Colorado State University campus.

Huckleberries are reported to be especially plentiful and large this year. Pickers are advised that Camp Nine Road is badly torn up by construction and they should use Meadow Creek cut off road.

Myrtle Creek water is running clear. Water rationing will not be necessary.

The July Artist of the Month is Katherine Haynes. She is a highly respected local artist and educator.

Walmart Community Donations Coordinator Chris Williamson gave an $875 grant to the Boundary County Community Library, which was accepted by Librarian Jan Allen.
