About the Project: The Riverside Road Improvements project proposes to reconstruct approximately 4.5 miles of roadway that accesses the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, Bureau of Land Management lands, and the Panhandle National Forest. The roadway will be widened to accommodate 12-foot travel lanes and 4-foot shoulders to enhance traffic safety between Bonners Ferry and the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. This project is currently in the design stage with anticipated construction beginning in Spring 2020. Learn more about the project at https://flh.fhwa.dot.gov/projects/id/riverside.
