Fulton Quality Construction named best construction company

BONNERS FERRY — As the ground thaws in North Idaho, people begin to build structures like homes and barns. Having the knowledge to tackle a big project like that helps speed up the process as well as making sure things are done correctly.

Fulton Quality Construction is comprised of a team that began as close family members and expanded into a team that is like family to one another.

The Fulton team has received the Best Construction Company in the 2019 Best of Boundary County, which was a surprise for them as they were not expecting to receive an award.

They went from Tim Fulton building their house, to word of mouth that the knowledge and experience was there, bringing people of all walks of life to knock on their door, so to speak, about assisting with their individual projects.

“He just built our first house, and he has done lots of building, so he knows how,” said his wife, Annette Fulton, who helps run the business. “Then, when we moved into it, we immediately started getting phone calls like, can you come help with this project, or that, and he said well, OK, and it led from one thing to another. Eventually, we were like, wow, this is a serious deal.”

“I have got lots of plans, but nothing going just yet,” said Rob Fulton, Annette and Tim Fulton’s son, about moving forward with the business. “We are starting a shop and just trying to keep our minds open.”

The team is looking forward to expanding their horizons from their focus on custom homes to expand in also construct steel commercial buildings. This will allow the company to assist the community in the aspects needed according to expansion, not only on the home front, but the business front as well.

“We aim more for the high end,” said Rob Fulton. “That’s where our quality really sets us apart from other builders.”

Rob Fulton went on to say that they are not totally set apart from many other builders that specialize in custom builds, but they do cater toward high end customizations where knowledge and experience shine through the finished product.

“We are expensive in comparison to spec home builders, but we are cheap in comparison to quality custom home builders,” said Rob Fulton. “We have guys that present so much experience, that it is all that they have ever studied, is how to do it the best, not always how to do it the fastest. Everything is more towards that side of things for us, and that is how I have always pushed the guys for, not just what kind of job we have.”

Annette Fulton noted her granddaughter is able to pitch in when she wants to and help the company run through greeting customers at the door, to helping bring her dad a couple tools on the jobsite.

“I like her to be around so she can learn,” said her dad, Rob Fulton. “She mostly just rides around with her grandpa.”

Growing from a small family business, to an award winning company, the team is ecstatic about their accomplishment.

“We are so excited to work for this community,” said Annette Fulton. “They are trusting us to build their dream homes and it is just such an honor to receive this award — it’s unbelievable. We are blessed that we have a great crew that we consider family, this is a family oriented business.”

They sent out a special thank you to Jeff Ward, who just celebrated his 13th year with the company, bringing knowledge, experience, and expertise to the team, with an additional shout out to Josh Joseph for his influence as well.
