Rod Benders host 20th annual car show
BONNERS FERRY — The streets of downtown Bonners Ferry were lined with cars for the Rod Bender’s 20th annual car show. This event has continually brought the most people for any one day, yearly event to the area.
This year, 140 cars registered, including those in the Rod Bender’s club, many coming from around the U.S. and Canada.
Among the cars was a memorial car dedicated to Diane Eisenhower who lost her fight against cancer last year. The car was displayed by her son, Kyle Eisenhower.
“The success of our annual car show is the result of many of the businesses in and around Boundary County donating items, for our participant’s ‘Goodie Bags’ and door prizes for the same,” said president of the Rod Benders Car Club, Mark Gundert. “For all the generosity of our county businesses and friends, we thank you.”
The club members are passionate about their cars, trucks and motorcycles, which makes their knowledge a treat for visitors to pick their brains with questions.
“Our goal is to have all the car show participants to be happy and come back next year, spend some time in Boundary County and enjoy the local scenic beauty, restaurants, people, businesses and tourist sites in Bonners Ferry and the county,” Gundert said.
The proceeds of what the show brought in goes back to the community in various ways such as Distinguished Young Women, Bonners Ferry Schools and programs within, anda the Local Explorers.
“We are a small car club that invites new members to join us for mutual interests and fellowship,” Gundert said.
The Rod Benders meet at Chic N Chop the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted on their Facebook page under the Rod Bender Car Club of Boundary County.
