Ceremony marks opening, improvements at city pool
BONNERS FERRY — The City Pool in Bonners Ferry has undergone some renovations. There is new paint and various other things that were done to improve the facility, with more renovations planned for the future.
On June 7, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony at the pool, where Bonners Ferry Mayor David Sims thanked those involved in the project.
The project was funded by grants from the Idaho Department of Commerce, High Five, and $66,000 raised through a timber sale last year. The $276,000 project has brought the city pool the first portion of the planned renovations. The next stage will be remodeling the bathrooms and changing rooms.
The pool was initially opened in 1934, and with the assistance of Bonners Ferry Builders, it looks fresh, new, and ready for swimmers to enjoy the facility this summer.
There are lifeguards in training and swimming lessons available as well. Pool passes and swimming lessons can be purchased at Bonners Ferry City Hall.
